The title of this now famous poster was one of the most memorable amongst the World War 1 posters, the idea for this design came to the owner of the printing company Johnson Riddle, he had wondered what the outcome of not volunteering might be after the war was over, following the posters publication he volunteered. The poster although popular was later criticised on the grounds of distortion and exploitation.
